Mother Africa

If you are filled with pride, then you will have no room for wisdom.

Happy!!!!!!!!!!

It was my friend's wedding last Saturday and we took this photo to celebrate our happiness. So here is my positive affirmation: I am happy for her. It was an unforgettable moment for all of us. She is the one with red hair. I am on the right, wearing blue. My daughter is right beside me on the background too. We were making faces in a photo booth. We laughed a lot! Everybody took photos in the booth with the bride and the groom and the photo was a gift from them to the guests.
We five have been friends for such a long time and I am grateful for having them in my life. My affirmation is from a song called "Happy". Below is the video.

It is not Summer here

May the wings of the butterfly kiss the sun
And find your shoulder to light on,
To bring you luck, happiness and riches
Today, tomorrow and beyond.
~Irish Blessing

Simon Says and Moomania challenged us to create something which would celebrate Summer.Tag Along wanted to see butterflies. So here it is. It is weird to think about Summer when it is cold. It is Winter time in Brazil. It is -8C in some states here. I love Winter though.
Have magical day everyone!

Mim and Lila

This is my idea of friendship: happiness. The girls on the photo are my daughter (foreground) and her best friend. I love this picture. As we say here: friends are the family one chooses. I am glad I have made some good friends. They have been part of my life for over twenty years and I am glad I have some good virtual friends: people I carry in my heart as well. How awful life would be if we didn't have them to share our good and bad moments! I am grateful I had the opportunity to meet so many incredible women and men! They have made a difference in my life.

Beauty is Truth?

The concept of beauty has always haunted me as a human being and as a teacher. It is so subjective and it is a strange process because we need the other to comprehend and apprehend/grasp it. It also makes me think of a poem written by Keats when he says:

“Beauty is truth, truth beauty”

Well, Ann, Bev and Marie gave me food for thought again and here is my contribution.Nah! It is not my simple card but the photo, I've always loved that lady's picture. Her dreamy eyes express much more than beauty or truth. They symbolize a lost era, a time of romanticism and chivalry and as I grow old, I miss things which might be forgotten around our absurd, insane world.
Have a magical day!

Lady and fan

“Victorian rigidities were such that ladies were not even allowed to blow out candles in mixed company, as that required them to pucker their lips suggestively. They could not say that they were going "to bed"--that planted too stimulating an image--but merely that they were "retiring." It became effectively impossible to discuss clothing in even a clinical sense without resort to euphemisms. Trousers became "nether integuments" or simply "inexpressibles" and underwear was "linen." Women could refer among themselves to petticoats or, in hushed tones, stockings, but could mention almost nothing else that brushed bare flesh.”
