T stands for Good Friends

Hello My T-Friends!

Tomorrow June begins and we are heading into Winter. It's been cold here and getting dark early. I love this cold weather. It's better than our Summer because we were almost evaporating. I thank you all for your uplifting messages about mum. It's incredible how people can be so warm even if miles separate them whereas people who are close don't really care much about each other's lives. Compassion and empathy are rare qualities nowadays.
Yesterday I drew the girl above. It was very late and the colors were dull/lifeless ( can I say that? ) on the photo. Then I made the colors pop up digitally. I'd like to know which one do you prefer and why. Colors fascinate me maybe because Brazilian art and Brazil itself is so colorful. Despite what's happening here, I'd like to tell you my country is beautiful and vibrant. I saw a charge about The Olympic Games in which an athlete got a gold medal and around him, there were a lot of armed people, trying to rob his prize. I know my country is poor but there are a lot of decent people here and that include those who live in total poverty. Discrimination and prejudice are a malady everywhere. I found a quote to express my feelings.

"Build bridges, not walls. Make love, not war. Spread positivity, not hate. Live life, be happy."

“The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality.”

A little bird

When I created my girl, I had no idea I'd find a quote to match it. But then voilà! The quote reflects what I've been through too!
I used oil pastels, acrylics, ink pens and stamps.

T stands for teachers

Hello T-Gang!

Hope you are well! I'd like to share some photos my daughter took of a project I made with one of my classes last Tuesday  . It was about a Brazilian poet I love so much: Alice Ruiz. The whole school was involved. Each teacher chose a female poet. We baptized the project as Feminine Voices because we only privigiled female writers. All of them are from Brazil.

My daughter & me - she helped me to adorn my classroom.

A scale model representing where our poet was born.

Here is a poetic clothes line. Anyone who visited our classroom, got a poem.

 Posters made by the students

Another scale model created by the students.

Whenever a teacher visited our classroom, s/he got a small book with a poem and candies.
Here is a library the students created named after the poet we chose.

I work at two public schools. Most of my students are from slums. Sometimes I'd like to make them dream too. Maybe I am wrong but poetry still gives us wings. It was such an immense pleasure to see them involved in our project. I hope they never forget Alice Ruiz.

Have a magical week!

T stands for Life

Hello Elizabeth! Hello My Lovely Friends!

It's been a long time since I took part in T stands for Tuesday. I left Elizabeth a comment about what was happening: my mother was sick and unfortunately what she's got is progressive. It was hard to swallow this new reality. But we are doing our best to make her life enjoyable. Love is a great medicine. Apart from that so many other things happened: I got the Zika Virus, my work changed drastically (now I am teaching kids too and it is terrific!), I made some new friends, my country got out of control, my furry friend died and inspiration disappeared. But life flows! I can't say I am well. I guess it takes some time to have one's heart healed when so many strange things occur at the same time. I hope you forgive me for my sudden revelation, however, behind this machine, there's a human being, I know many people can identify themselves with my private drama. I just hope I can always link up with T stands for Tuesday from now on.
Have a magical week!

An imagetic poem

“Through the blur, I wondered if I was alone or if other parents felt the same way I did - that everything involving our children was painful in some way. The emotions, whether they were joy, sorrow, love or pride, were so deep and sharp that in the end they left you raw, exposed and yes, in pain. The human heart was not designed to beat outside the human body and yet, each child represented just that - a parent's heart bared, beating forever outside its chest.”
