Let's Celebrate!

Three Muses wanted us to alter a photo and since this one is my last work in 2014, I decided to celebrate New Year again. I hope 2015 brings understanding, peace and love for you wherever you are. Keep in mind you are a beautiful miracle and stay strong and postive even if the circunstances  deny. Recreate yourself always and forgive those who need. Life, my friends, is your best possession. So be faithful to yourself. Our identities and idyosincrasies are what make us special!

Happy New Year my good friends from Three Muses!

Happy New Year everyone!

T stands for Togetherness

Hello Elizabeth, Hello My Good Friends!

So this is the last Tuesday of 2014!Wowwww time flies uh? Have you looked inside and expressed gratitude for all the good things you have had this year? I have! My family and friends are well. Health is a supreme good! I hope you have a fabulous artistic and creative 2015, full of joy and bliss! I'd like to leave you an Irish Prayer:

May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

2015!!!!

On New Year’s Eve here in Brazil, we dress in white or blue to greet the New Year and throw (white) flowers and other offerings into the sea for Iemanjá – our ancient mother,  our Goddesss  of the sea, hoping  she will grant us our requests for the coming year. Some send their gifts to Iemanjá in small wooden boats. Iemanjá  is  portrayed as a woman rising out of the sea. Small offerings of fruit and floating candles are left in the sea for her too.

Here is a statue of Iemanjá where I live:

Iemanjá

Hope Iemanjá protects and guides you in 2015.

Happy New Year!

Rise

Click for a better view

Still I Rise

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

Paint Party Friday

You might be thinking the reason why I chose a geisha to illustrate Maya Angelou's poem. Well, first because people still expect women to behave according to some paradigms here as if our gender could define us and who/what we are. Second because I love Memoirs of a Geisha which is by far one of the best films I have ever seen. Third because my best friend during my teenager and youth years was Japanese. She passed away some time ago. All those ladies taught me to be strong and rise so...
Hope you rise whenever you stumble and fall. Here lies the magic of life: your capacity of rebirth.
Have a magical 2015!

Snow Goddess

"Snow was falling,
so much like stars
filling the dark trees
that one could easily imagine
its reason for being was nothing more
than prettiness.”

Dreamy

Dreams in the dusk
by Carl Sandburg

DREAMS in the dusk,
Only dreams closing the day

And with the day's close going back
To the gray things, the dark things,
The far, deep things of dreamland.

Dreams, only dreams in the dusk,
Only the old remembered pictures
Of lost days when the day's loss
Wrote in tears the heart's loss.

Tears and loss and broken dreams
May find your heart at dusk.

Ms Claus

Here are the reasons Santa Claus could be a woman:

Men can’t pack a bag.
Men would rather be dead than caught wearing red velvet.
Men don’t answer their mail.
Men would refuse to allow their belly to be described as a “bowlful of jelly.”
Men aren’t interested in stockings unless somebody’s wearing them.
Having to do the “Ho Ho Ho” thing would seriously inhibit their ability to pick up women.
Being responsible for Christmas would require a commitment.

A Goddess or My law is love unto all beings

Charge of the Goddess

Traditional by Doreen Valiente, as adapted by Starhawk:

Listen to the words of the Great Mother, Who of old was called Artemis, Astarte, Dione, Melusine, Aphrodite, Cerridwen, Diana, Arionrhod, Brigid, and by many other names:
Whenever you have need of anything, once a month, and better it be when the moon is full, you shall assemble in some secret place and adore the spirit of Me Who is Queen of all the Wise.
You shall be free from slavery, and as a sign that you be free you shall be naked in your rites.
Sing, feast, dance, make music and love, all in My Presence, for Mine is the ecstasy of the spirit and Mine also is joy on earth.
For My law is love is unto all beings. Mine is the secret that opens the door of youth, and Mine is the cup of wine of life that is the cauldron of Cerridwen, that is the holy grail of immortality.
I give the knowledge of the spirit eternal, and beyond death I give peace and freedom and reunion with those that have gone before.
Nor do I demand aught of sacrifice, for behold, I am the Mother of all things and My love is poured out upon the earth.
Hear the words of the Star Goddess, the dust of Whose feet are the hosts of Heaven, whose body encircles the universe:
I Who am the beauty of the green earth and the white moon among the stars and the mysteries of the waters,
I call upon your soul to arise and come unto me.
For I am the soul of nature that gives life to the universe.
From Me all things proceed and unto Me they must return.
Let My worship be in the heart that rejoices, for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are My rituals.
Let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you.
And you who seek to know Me, know that the seeking and yearning will avail you not, unless you know the Mystery: for if that which you seek, you find not within yourself, you will never find it without.
For behold, I have been with you from the beginning, and I am That which is attained at the end of desire.

Elegant Winter

Drive my dead thoughts over the universe
Like withered leaves to quicken a new birth!
And, by the incantation of this verse,
Scatter, as from an unextinguished hearth
Ashes and sparks, my words among mankind!
Be through my lips to unawakened earth
The trumpet of a prophecy! O, wind,
If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?
~Percy Bysshe Shelley
