The Moon

The ancients believed that the Moon contained the souls of the unborn as they waited for life, and the dead were gathered up to it’s womb to wait for rebirth. It thus became an image for the ‘Great Mother’, from whom all life springs and to whom all life returns.

The Moon presides over all things connected with the feminine archetype, including the menstrual cycle which lasts for approximately twenty-eight days  -  the same time it takes for the Moon to complete its three phases.

Faith is the shadow of our higher self that remains here on earth to remind us of our purpose in the Universe. Faith is a reflection of what our higher consciousness knows to be true.

The Moon, through all of its phases, represents the world of illusions, dreams and the subconscious.

The Empress

The Empress brings a message to feel the essence of life pulsating in each and every living thing, and the complex and continual reproduction cycles within the concept of nature.

The Empress is representative of Mother Earth, and relates to all the signs of the Zodiac. She is known as the ‘Great Goddess’.

The energy of The Empress is one of gentle femininity and is receptive and preserving. The Empress provides fertile soil.

The Empress tells of how we seek to make ourselves and others happy. She represents giving, sharing, compromise, beauty, love, compassion and the Arts.

The Empress signifies the ‘queen of life’, the perfect woman, the archetypal mother, and represents the matriarchal goddess, being part of nature, fertility, sexuality, and the generative forces. As the life-giving mother, the Empress is connected to the Earth and the natural rhythms, and the appreciation of the senses.

The Priestess

The High Priestess card symbolizes the unconscious, a concern with our internal worlds, spiritual forces, and the understanding of higher truths through dreams and intuition. The mysterious High Priestess jealously guards her secrets and occult wisdom.

As a wise woman, the High Priestess is the Goddess of fertility and is seen as a healer possessing intuitive powers and clairvoyance, and creating harmony and inner-balance. She emphasizes the necessity to get in contact with our inner-selves, to reflect and meditate, to trust our feelings and to let our dreams and intuition guide us.

Observing rather than participating, the High Priestess can also represent platonic love, manipulation, a pause in a process that was progressing, or even a standstill, causing doubt and confusion.

The High Priestess is known as the ‘silent knower’. The High Priestess’s realm is one of dreams fantasy and intuition, which cannot be clearly perceived by the conscious mind.

The High Priestess relates to the ‘Mother’ energies, and denotes one who works with their intuition on the highest levels.

The High Priestess indicates someone who has great intuitive abilities. It describes someone who is quite domesticated, and one who is drawn to nurturing and to being nurtured. The High Priestess describes someone who wants and needs a safe place to retreat when needed.

The High Priestess tells you that you possess natural intuition and psychic abilities and she inspires emotions and receptive understanding.
