Sewing My Heart

My grandmother was a seamstress. She could also knit and crochet very well. My mother could sew and knit very well too. Unfortunately, she's got Alzheimer now. I miss the things my mother used to do so beautifully. I miss my grandmother. What a tapestry of emotions the theme hosted this month by Art Journal Journey have brought to me!

Zentangling her

Art Journal Journey asked us for something new so I used my new pens to draw and zentangle this piece. It is good to be back after such a long time.

Magic

It took me some time to draw after such a long time. Life has been quite tough. but if we don't believe in magic and fantasy who will then? Blessed are those who keep their hearts light before the hardest situations.

T stands for Time

Hello My T-Friends!
I guess I am late again but here I am. Today I want only papaya, mango juice, a toast and ricotta spread. because it is very hot. Tomorrow I start work so I created a page thinking about time which in my opinon passed so quickly this january. Sometimes I think holidays should have 48 hours each day so that we all could rest more. But life is so fast these days, it is an instant and we hardly have time to think and reflect on what is happening. I have some years ahead till I retire. Meanwhile, let me prepare something for my class tomorrow.
Have a magical week!
Don't forget to visit Elizabeth!

T stands for Thoughts

Good Morning My T- Friends!

I guess I am late today but better late than never. I hope you are well wherever you are no matter how cold or hot the weather is. I promised myself that my blog would be devoted to art but sometimes I break this rule to write what I feel. I do apologise if I stir your feelings but it is with immense sadness and fear that not only me but many of my fellow countrymen and countrywomen saw Trump became America 45th president. What a challenge the whole world has ahead! I only hope common sense prevails and Mr Trump can understand that planet Earth is vast and everybody has the right to be here.

Would you like some coffee? Have you ever tried yogurt bread or white cheese?
They are yummy yummy!

As I told you I have been quite introspective due to some uncontrollable circumstances and I guess that has somehow been affecting not only the way I look at life but also my art.

I chose Aristotle's quote to illustrate my pages:

"Friendship is two souls dwelling in one body."

Friends are very important in one's life and I am blessed because I have a few good friends and they are like a family. They helped me to be a better person in so many ways.

If you can't find majesty in yourself, nobody will. Self-acceptance is essential to survive in a world so biased and unwilling to rethink attitudes. Nah, I don't want to change the world. I just want to live in peace and irradiate sunshine of my heart. When I was young, I thought I would transform everything. A rebel I was! It is impossible not to be one when you live in a dictatorship. Now I look at my daughter and I see myself in her. It is interesting how things repeat themselves in the scheme of life. Wisdom is a privilege of maturity and I am glad I finally understood that truth.

I hope you have a magical week!

Blessings!

Poetical me

Hello my lovelies.  How are you today? Hope life has been treating you well. Although it is summer here and needless to say it is steaming hot and unbearable most of times, I have been painting flowers. I decided to create journal pages using watercolor. to adorn my poems and affirmations.. It is going to be my visual poetry book. Why watercolor? Because it is a challenge for me. The right page was done using watercolor pencils but the left one was pure watercolor and it was fun to use brushes to paint. I finished altering a book and it took me three years to do that. I started in october 2015 and finished this year. It is a mix of everything but there is no watercolor in it so this one is just for my studies in watercolor. Therefore right now I am creating two books. One is just for cut and paste collages and oil pastels drawings and the other is just for watercolor and poetry/ affirmations. I don't know if I will have time from February on to dedicate myself to my watercolors because I will start work. I am on holidays. What a bless! Besides poetry is so demanding. It needs so much from me. Words are so complex to weave but I love them as much as I love painting, drawing and digital art.

I have just found a quote to celebrate poetry:

Poetry is plucking at the heartstrings, and making music with them.
― Dennis Gabor

I have been plucking at my heartstrings with my art and poetry.

This year

Art Journal Journey challenged us to create something in which we couldn't show wings, faces or leaves. So I brought a sofa with some furry friends. I lost my cat this year and my dog had her leg amputated due to a cancer. She's very well now. So my pages are a celebration of life, a tribute to my furry friends.

She's the black one.

T stands for Flowers and Trees

Hello T- Gang!

It's been awhile since I took part in Elizabeth's T stands for Tuesday. It was the end of the third bimester here and I work at three schools so you can imagine the amount of work I had correcting tests and evaluating students. Besides all the new policies here made me down. The target is always Education and Social Welfare. Sometimes I think the world has gone mad and I feel like a fish out of water. I wish things could be different for my students and my people. According to the new policies the spending on social welfare will be limited for twenty years.  It will reduce health and education programs dramatically. Needless to say I fear the future.

But let's talk about nice things now. Last week I went to Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden. Let's visit it again with me?

The Japanese Garden

Can you see the kois in the water? I was amazed. What a peaceful place!

I saw a lotus flower for the first time in my life. I wasn't lucky when I visited The Botanical Gardens the other times: there was no lotus flower to be seen. But last Friday  I was amazed. There was only one flower so I had to immortalize it. Can you see me and Miss Lotus?

Here is the orchids greenhouse. So beautiful!Pure delight!

I love orchids. They are rare and difficult to cultivate.

I will post more next week. I took 174 photos. So prepare yourself for an overdose of plants and flowers.

I created some papers. It's all yours. Just right click and save them.

And here is for Susi and Valerie. It is spring here. Today was very hot. We are observing DST now so we are one hour ahead.

I made the background with watercolor pencils. Love the effect.

A flower for you all. Have a magical week and visit Elizabeth's blog.

A wonder

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As longs as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.”

Sniff the flowers

Art Journal Journey invited us to reflect on gardens. I created a cut and paste collage to show how flowers can be a great therapy of happiness. So, whenever you have time: SNIFF THE FLOWERS.
