T stands for Generosity

Hello Elizabeth!Hello My Lovelies!

First of all, I'd like to thank Patty for her generosity. She sent me her watercolor soluble crayons last Friday and I have no words to express how happy I am!  As soon as they arrive, I will post a photo. It might take 2 weeks to get here. Thanks so much Elizabeth and Patty.
I found a quote about generosity which I want to share:

“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”
― Steve Maraboli

Patty, you have healed a Brazilian. Thanks, my friend.

I also want to share a card I made for The Cherful Stamp Pad. Our new challenge is Marie Antoinette and Lunagirl is our sponsor. Why don't you play along with us? It's fun!

Something there to remember

Really I don't dislike to cook, but what you cook is eaten so quickly.  When you sew, you have something that will last to show for your efforts.

So retro!

“The danger of restorative nostalgia lies in its belief that the mutilated 'wholeness' of the body politic can be repaired. But the reflective nostalgic understands deep down that loss is irrecoverable: Time wounds all wholes. To exist in Time is to suffer through an endless exile, a successive severing from those precious few moments of feeling at home in the world. In pop terms, Morrissey is the supreme poet of reflective nostalgia.”

Todas essas asas

I have been altering a book called Wreck this Journal for my daughter. According to the writer  to create is to destroy so I am destroying it with my art and ideas. I have been writing about a lot of things in it. There are many collages, quotes, poems,
drawings and above all, my thoughts on life. The pages above are about freedom and its meaning. Since I adorned the  pages with some birds, I decided to link up with Try it on Tuesdays.

We are dreamy beings

Sometimes, we lose confidence in ourselves and we forget we are dreamy beings. But the moment the poetry of life fades, we stop living hopefully. Life has to be magical and our dreams are our fuel to make the impossible possible. Your dreams can be big or small. It doesn't matter as long as you can accomplish them. I am going to tell you something about a young man I  met seventeen years ago when I was teaching English at a course. When he started working there, he was my trainee for some time till he was prepared to have his own classes. In the beginning, I used to observe him but I have never believed in pedagogical practices without emotional involvement. In short, we become friends and that young man taught me one of the most important lessons on dreams: he was poor and loved English so much. He didn't have money to pay for an English course. So he learnt English alone, reading dictionaries in public libraries. He mastered English as if he was a native speaker. It was fantastic! Some time later, he was accepted at Rio de Janeiro State University where he studied English Language and Literature and left us. I still look up to him. He worked towards success, exercising his courage, proving to himself and to other people that his poverty was not a boundary the world had put in front of him. He is an example of direction and purpose in my opinion and I always tell his story to my students: nothing can stop a focused mind. My work is a tribute to my trainee who became my teacher and to all people who chase their dreams/ happiness.

Have a magical day!

Karla
