2015!!!!

On New Year’s Eve here in Brazil, we dress in white or blue to greet the New Year and throw (white) flowers and other offerings into the sea for Iemanjá – our ancient mother,  our Goddesss  of the sea, hoping  she will grant us our requests for the coming year. Some send their gifts to Iemanjá in small wooden boats. Iemanjá  is  portrayed as a woman rising out of the sea. Small offerings of fruit and floating candles are left in the sea for her too.

Here is a statue of Iemanjá where I live:

Iemanjá

Hope Iemanjá protects and guides you in 2015.

Happy New Year!
