T stands for teachers

Hello T-Gang!

Hope you are well! I'd like to share some photos my daughter took of a project I made with one of my classes last Tuesday  . It was about a Brazilian poet I love so much: Alice Ruiz. The whole school was involved. Each teacher chose a female poet. We baptized the project as Feminine Voices because we only privigiled female writers. All of them are from Brazil.

My daughter & me - she helped me to adorn my classroom.

A scale model representing where our poet was born.

Here is a poetic clothes line. Anyone who visited our classroom, got a poem.

 Posters made by the students

Another scale model created by the students.

Whenever a teacher visited our classroom, s/he got a small book with a poem and candies.
Here is a library the students created named after the poet we chose.

I work at two public schools. Most of my students are from slums. Sometimes I'd like to make them dream too. Maybe I am wrong but poetry still gives us wings. It was such an immense pleasure to see them involved in our project. I hope they never forget Alice Ruiz.

Have a magical week!

Linking up with T stands for Tuesday

Hugs,
Karla

  8. I was immensely impressed with all the work you put into helping these children find their own voice, and show them there is hope and a way out of the poverty they were born into. Not only was this a marvelous project, but one the students seem to have embraced. That makes you a fantastic teacher.

I also enjoyed your lovely art you created because your fabulous girl looks like she can take on the world with a few cups of coffee. Thanks for sharing both your cute girly girl and your wonderful Alice Ruiz project with us for T this Tuesday.

  10. Wow! you've helped the students see, enjoy, and understand this poet and her poems using so many materials! that will really help them remember it all so much better than just reading about it. Getting to do things with their hands, making things...it is perfect! I think you are right to try to help your students dream bigger. They need someone to show them a bigger world and all of its possibilities! You and your daughter are so beautiful...love that you included your photo. happy T day!
