Sometimes, we lose confidence in ourselves and we forget we are dreamy beings. But the moment the poetry of life fades, we stop living hopefully. Life has to be magical and our dreams are our fuel to make the impossible possible. Your dreams can be big or small. It doesn't matter as long as you can accomplish them. I am going to tell you something about a young man I met seventeen years ago when I was teaching English at a course. When he started working there, he was my trainee for some time till he was prepared to have his own classes. In the beginning, I used to observe him but I have never believed in pedagogical practices without emotional involvement. In short, we become friends and that young man taught me one of the most important lessons on dreams: he was poor and loved English so much. He didn't have money to pay for an English course. So he learnt English alone, reading dictionaries in public libraries. He mastered English as if he was a native speaker. It was fantastic! Some time later, he was accepted at Rio de Janeiro State University where he studied English Language and Literature and left us. I still look up to him. He worked towards success, exercising his courage, proving to himself and to other people that his poverty was not a boundary the world had put in front of him. He is an example of direction and purpose in my opinion and I always tell his story to my students: nothing can stop a focused mind. My work is a tribute to my trainee who became my teacher and to all people who chase their dreams/ happiness.
Have a magical day!

ResponderExcluirWhat a lovely post and wonderful testament to a young man who knew what he wanted. I love stories like this as it is all to easy for folk to blame their circumstances for stopping them from every achieving anything in life but I love the expression - if you can dream it you can achieve it!
