Girl thinking about the future

Watercolor pencils and oil pastels.

This drawing was inspired by my daughter although she doesn't have red hair or blue eyes. She is going to sit for our High School National Exam and she hasn't stopped talking or thinking about it since she got her letter confirming where the exam would take place. The exam is composed of 180 multiple-choice questions, divided into four areas of knowledge: languages, codes and related technologies (plus a written essay); human sciences and related technologies; natural sciences and related technologies; and mathematics and its technologies. The test is applied in two consecutive days and I had to rely on Wikipedia to get all this information in English. Otherwise, I wouldn't know how to explain that. This exam is essential to be admitted to a university so I am keeping my fingers crossed. The best universities are free here but a student's score must be very high to enter it. My girl is not a little girl anymore. A new life waits for her.My heart beats in her chest and hers beats in mine. We raise our children with care to give them to life. How difficult it is to be a mother! Well, that's part of a game called life huh. Have a magical day!

  1. That sounds a lot like our SATs (I think it stands for Student Aptitude Tests) or ACT (American College Testing). Yes, it's intense. I wish her nothing but the best of luck, although I suspect luck has less to do with it than learning. What a caring mother you are. And getting into a college free would have been a god-send for me.

  5. What an exciting time! I wish her - and you - the best of luck. Do you mind me asking where you're from? I suppose I always assumed English was your first language; you write amazingly. I love the image of the girl, she looks so dreamy, and with her hands there, it's like she's blocking out the rest of the world. Which sometimes is necessary to keep our dreams alive. Beautiful.

Mine is 28 and these feelings are forever! Who knew!! Wonderful post! All the best to your dear daughter! Love the angora looking sweater on your young lady!
