I carry you in my heart

The challenge this week on Collage Obsession was about The United States of America. I could create anything I wanted about the country.I can't think of anything apart from poetry when I think of America. Anne Sexton, e.e.cummings, Robert Frost, Mary Oliver, Adrienne Rich, William Carlos Williams, Maya Angelou, T.S.Eliot, Amy Lowell, Edna Vincent St Millay shaped my heart and mind. They taught me to see the world and to believe in Literature as a weapon of change and meaning. Today I lost a good friend of mine. We studied together at university. We have been friends for more than twenty years. I know how she loved Literature and America. So this work has a deep and specific meaning for me. At 3 o'clock pm  I will say goodbye to her and  bury part of my past. As I post this work here, I am crying so this challenge is special for me. I am paying my tribute to my friend Rita and to the poets I love. Thanks for taking your time and visiting me. Don't forget to check the other participants' work.

For Rita.

  2. A beautiful tribute and I am so sorry for your loss. American poets are so diverse and rich ( we are a melting pot) and this is a lovely take on the theme!
